The Story

EVENT DATE: Feb 26, 2017

The event – a team and individual competition – will benefit TELL, a mental health services non-profit with a 40+ year serving the international community here in Japan. TELL provides a 24/7 telephone Lifeline, counseling and outreach for English-speaking foreign and Japanese employees and their families. Visit www.telljp.com.

In the Team Challenge, teams will aim to snowboard / ski down the equivalent of the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest (29,029 ft/8,848 m), in a single day, using the Ski Tracks application to record their results.

The Mountain Challenge will also include an Individual Challenge, Mount Fuji (12,389ft / 3,776m) and a Kids / Beginners Challenge with the goal of riding down Hokkaido’s highest mountain, Mount Yotei (6,161ft / 1,898m), in a single day.

Prizes will be awarded to the fastest individual men and women, and in a number of team categories, as well as for the best fancy dress individuals and teams, and in several other categories. Competitors will also have a chance to win great prizes in a charity raffle.

Any competent skier or boarder with a valid lift pass can join. Not suitable for complete beginners, but most people with some experience should be able to complete the Mount Fuji challenge. The Everest challenge is mostly suited to intermediate and advanced riders.
