One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lives. On March 17th I will be running the NYC Half Marathon as a member of the "Think Pink Rocks" team in honor of my cousin, Dawn Strout - the bravest woman I know! After being diagnosed at 32, I've seen how courageous Dawn has been in her fight against breast cancer. This disease touches so many of us. I know we have all felt very helpless at times, wanting to help in any way possible. This is our chance! Make a donation to promote early detection and further research to fight against this terrible disease.
THINK PINK ROCKS is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness about early detection of and genetic testing for breast cancer and to provide funding for screening, treatment and research.
Did you know:
• A woman's risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer is greatly increased if she carries the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation (Breast Cancer gene mutation).
• Men with these mutations also have an increased risk of breast and prostate cancer.
All money raised for Think Pink Rocks from the NYC Half 2013 will benefit breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
