Welcome! Thank you for supporting Team AFEV at the Air Force Marathon!
The Event: On September 17th, 2016 Team AFEV will once again be running the Air Force Marathon in support of the Air Force Enlisted Village. Your dedication truly exemplifies the Air Force core values and we thank you for your support and your dedication to helping us with our simple mission: To Provide a Home.
What we do: Specifically, we provide a home for surviving spouses of retired enlisted airmen and to the mothers of current active duty airmen. Our ultimate goal is to give these Air Force family members a safe, secure home and to treat them with the dignity and respect we reserve for our own moms.
What we are raising funds for: Our decision to become a charity partner with the Air Force Marathon stems from the late CMSAF Binnicker’s dream to build Bob Hope Village 5. His dream became a reality when Village 5 officially opened on July 31, 2015. With the opening of Village 5, we now very proudly have 520 residents living at Bob Hope Village and Hawthorn House and look to the next phase of our fund raising efforts, the renovation and expansion of our Community Center. This community Center is a lot like an Enlisted Club; it’s a place for our residents to come together for all sorts of events from holiday meals to the annual Luau to educational briefings. The community center is the heart of our villages; our widows and residents come together and find friendship, share memories of days passed and experience camaraderie much like they did in their military days at the “E Club”. But it will be much more: the new Community Center will include a General Store, Wellness, Fitness and Media Centers, and a larger ballroom and library. With these additions we confidently look to the future as we improve and expand the life center functions within our campus. We thank you for helping us raise funds and taking this journey of growth with is. We encourage you to come visit us in person to see what your fund raising is doing, and we will see you in September at the Air Force Marathon!
