EVENT DATE: Nov 01, 2015
Dear Family and Friends,
On November 1, 2015 I’ll be running the NYC Marathon as part of the Athletes to End Alzheimer’s team to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association, in honor of my mom who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2009, and my dad (caregiver extraordinaire), who works relentlessly each day to make sure she is well taken care of.
Now in the midst of its final stages, we’ve watched mom struggle with everything from an inability to recall words to now, not being able to do the most basic tasks that we all take for granted. But despite the challenges, we are still grateful for the occasional smiles, moments of laughter, and of course, constant affection.
Every 67 seconds, someone in the US develops Alzheimer’s yet it is the only cause of death in the top 10 of America that cannot be cured, prevented or slowed.
Please help me reach my goal of raising $6,000 in support of the Alzheimer’s Association which not only supports the advancement of research to find a cure for Alzheimer’s but also provides individuals and families such as ours with critical services such as early stage programs, support groups, and care consultation.
I would run 500 miles if it meant finding a cure for the millions of people and their families who suffer from this disease. 26.2 is a start. I hope you’ll join me in making these important strides.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support. It is so appreciated!!!
