Due to the bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013, Jeff Bauman suffered great injuries which resulted in the amputation of both legs above the knee. The amount of rehabiliation and assistance needed to walk again is unimaginable. Insurance only covers so much. But thanks to non-profit organizations such as The Challenged Athletes Foundation, people like Jeff can get back on his/her "feet" once again.
"It is the mission of the Challenged Athletes Foundation to provide opportunities and support to people with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. The Challenged Athletes Foundation believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life."
