I will be running my first marathon on November 2, 2014 and I chose to run it for Catholic Charities because it gives me an opportunity to raise money for an organization which addresses such a wide array of human needs regardless of religious background. Catholic Charities feeds the hungry, provides job training and resources to help people get back on their feet, and offers children and youth better opportunities to learn and grow, among many others. My family and I have been involved with Catholic Charities for some time (primarily in DC where I grew up) so I have been able to witness the enormous difference Catholic Charities makes.
I ran Varsity indoor and outdoor track and field at Colby College, specializing in the 400m distance. After college I took up running longer distances and I eventually made it a goal to run a marathon. I am looking forward to the challenges of fundraising, training and finally running the marathon. I know that I will be inspired to work hard both in my fundraising and training since I am helping the 350,000+ individuals served by Catholic Charities.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
