BENEFITING: CELIAC DISEASE FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: CELIAC DISEASE FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
Friends, Family, and Facebookers & (Twitter) Followers,
I am running the New York City Maration on November 4th, 2012 for Team Gluten-Free and am raising money for Celiac Summer Camperships. A campership provides financial assistance to children attending Celiac Friendly Summer Camps My goal in running this marathon is 3 fold: 1.) raise money to help kids feel normal which is something that was taken away from me with my diagnosis and I work every day to establish through Celiebo., 2.) Remind myself how different I am since my celiac diagnosis and how grateful that I CAN do so many things now that I never could before, and 3.) cross the finish line alive.
Thank you so much to all of you for just taking the time to visit my fundraising page. For those of you who know me well, you know how passionate I am about changing the gluten-free world. Providing these Camperships gives kids an opportunity to spend a summer away feeling completely normal and the last thing they think about is being gluten-free. Those of you who don't know me well, I'm confident it is your gluten-free experience that has lead you to this page. You donation (even $5) takes us one step closer to a world of 'can' instead of 'cannot.' This is what running has done for me - it changed my cannot to can and inspired me to want every gluten-free individual to be able to say the same. I spent far too many years being a slave to a disease I didn't even know the name of - and I won't stand for it any longer. I'll run for it.

Since its inception in 1990, Celiac Disease Foundation has been at the forefront of Celiac disease education, information, awareness, advocacy and support services to both the lay as well as the health professional communities. Charting a territory not ventured by any other official Celiac disease organization, CDF was instrumental in bringing attention to the disease at a time when the word Celiac, much less knowledge about it, was far from most people's consciousness. In the two decades since, CDF stands as the "go to" resource organization for anything and everything Celiac.
