Thank you for visiting my page!
This will be the second consecutive year that I'm running with Team Groundwork and I'm very grateful and proud to be part of their team. Last year I ran the marathon in 4hrs and 13 min. My goal is to beat that mark this year even if it's by only a minute (this is no easy feat)!
I would appreciate any monetary support you could provide to help Groundwork do the great work that they do. I am committed to running the 26.2 miles but I'm also dedicated in helping them raise the money they deserve. Any little bit helps!
I will obviously also appreciate any moral and encouraging support for the big race itself. Please read below for some information on Groundwork and visit their website!
Founded in early 2002, Groundwork Inc. supports the development of powerful youth, powerful families, and powerful communities so that all young people in the communities where we work have access to a full range of opportunities to lead a rewarding and fulfilling life.
This year I've decided to also recognize and dedicate my run to the Cuban 5. Who are the Cuban 5?
The Cuban Five are five Cuban men who are in U.S. prison, serving four life sentences and 75 years collectively, after being wrongly convicted in U.S. federal court in Miami, on June 8, 2001. They are Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González. The Five were falsely accused by the U.S. government of committing espionage conspiracy against the United States, and other related charges.
But the Five pointed out vigorously in their defense that they were involved in monitoring the actions of Miami-based terrorist groups, in order to prevent terrorist attacks on their country of Cuba. The Five’s actions were never directed at the U.S. government. They never harmed anyone nor ever possessed nor used any weapons while in the United States.
