Why I will run…
I have had those times when I am not sure, when I am dark and when I feel just “not”. Something always intervenes: a stark or vague memory of those I love; a vivid or cloudy sense of what matters – that stays me. Staying is never a regret.
I share with you a feeling that I think almost all of us have had at one time or another; but, some go very dark and do not get to the “no regrets”. Kathy, my sister, was one. I remember her smile, her playfulness, her smarts, her successes, and her love and pride for daughters Jeanine & Alicia. I also remember that some terrible pain caused her to take her life.
Samaritans saves “Kathys”. Samaritans will help any of us when we are that unsure, that senseless or that forgetting so that there are no regrets. So I run in memory of Kathy; but also, I run for us, and for every one that Samaritans has saved (125,000 callers alone in 2012) – and can save – and for every “Kathy” that they cannot save without our help.
I invite you to make a donation to Samaritans in any amount to save lives as well as to foster their goal of a happier day for all of us (www.happierboston.org).
Thank you. Peter
