THE STORY:
This April, Glenn is set to run the Virgin London Marathon for the worthy cause of African wildlife conservation. Since its formation in 1990, Tusk has launched a wide range of projects across 17 African countries, which not only work to protect endangered wildlife but also help to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and environmental education.
With the support of Tusk and its partner organizations, greater protection has been afforded to over 36 endangered species, including the African elephant, black and white rhino, cheetah, chimpanzee, mountain and lowland gorilla, African wild dog, and Grevy's zebra.
Glenn has been an avid distance runner for over 40 years. He ran track for Iona College, competing in middle distance (5k and 10k) races. He placed and won races at the Penn Relays and NY Melrose Games in high school and college. Since then, he has moved onto longer distances and has run over 15 marathons with a personal record of 2:42.16. He was ranked 54th of the 15,000 runners in his age group in the 1979 New York Marathon. Over the past 10 years, Glenn has competed in triathlons in addition to running.
As far as future ambitions, Glenn hopes to raise (and possibly exceed) his fundraising goal for the Virgin London Marathon and run the Safaricom Lewa Marathon for Tusk.
Please sponsor Glenn! Donations of all shapes and sizes welcome.
