Hello Parklet Supporters!

I hope all is well with each of you as the summer begins to fade. We have some exciting news to share, including our upcoming grand opening!

Project Updates

We Met Our Fundraising Goal!
Our project is absolutely, completely, 100% fully funded!!! We were able to raise $15,000 for the project through the generosity of folks like you. That's exactly the amount we needed to guarantee the parklet would happen. Holy cow! A HUGE thanks to each of you for contributing and sending positive vibes our way.

We Got a Grant!
We were recently awarded a Neighborhood Matching Grant from the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. The funds will serve as a great financial cushion for the project, and have allowed us to make some strategic design upgrades.

We've Broken Ground!
SDOT issued us a building permit in mid-August and construction started up almost immediately! Drive/walk/bike/rollerskate/skip past the site at 25th & Union over the next few weeks and see our incredible building team from Ten Penny Studio hard at work. Say hi and give them a thumbs up if you feel inspired.

Save The Date!

Community Art Event
Join us this coming Sunday, 9/14 as we gather at Cortona for a community art event for the parklet. Stop by between 2-5pm to paint a piece of glass tile that will be incorporated into a centerpiece mosaic. Big thanks to the folks at Pratt Fine Arts Center for supporting this community art project! Bring a friend! Bring your kids! Become a permanent piece of the parklet!

Grand Opening Party!
Help us make it official at our grand opening event on Sunday, 9/28 from 4-7pm. We'll have all the usual suspects--music, food, drinks, and an immense amount of parklet enthusiasm. Join our parklet team and the folks like you who have been an integral part of this project from the start to relax, celebrate, and cut some sort of giant red ribbon. Cortona Cafe - 25th Ave & E Union St in Seattle's Central District. 9/28, 4-7pm.

Once again, we cannot thank you enough for all of your support, encouragement and interest in this project since we started down this road six months ago. We are thrilled to be reaching the finish line, and to have such an incredible group of people along side us.

In gratitude and celebration,

The Whole Parklet Team

Jesse, Thank you for your g…
Jesse,

Thank you for your generous contribution of $25 to the 25th & Union Parklet! We are equally thrilled and humbled by your incredible gesture and confidence in us.

Due in part to your donation, we were able to raise over $10,000 through our online campaign. Paired with the $5,000 we raised through a few fundraising events, that's $15,000 of community love coming our way for this project. Think of all the framing lumber, pathway gravel and planter pots we can buy with that kind of money! I promise that the significance of that kind of support is not being lost on us. And now the parklet is now fully funded!!!

Your Rewards
Based on your donation level, we are happy to offer you the opportunity to come into Cortona Cafe for one free cup of coffee. Enjoy your twelve-ounce cup of drip either hot or iced (any time the shop's open). We'll keep a list of coffee-getters on-hand at the cafe and may even give you a hug or a high five for your generosity when you come in.

Are you a regular at the cafe? You've also earned the right to make us a mixtape. Chose up to 60-minutes of coffee-shoppy tunes of your liking. Burn us a cd or bring in a thumb-drive with some mp3s. We'll play your (digital) mixtape every day for a month. And if we really like it we'll keep it in our permanent mix. Email us at the address below to claim this prize and get more details.

Next Steps
Building Permit - We're in final talks with SDOT and expect a permit in two weeks!
Construction - Likely starting up in August.
Art Component - We're working with the Pratt Center (and a group of other folks from the community) to come up with an art component for the parklet.
Grand Opening Party - Expect details soon!

Thanks again for your donation, but even more-so for your belief in our project and your confidence in us as champions and stewards of this public space. We feel so blessed to be part of such a loving, giving community and look forward to hanging out together in the parklet as we strengthen the ties between the residents in our incredible neighborhood.

Warm wishes,

Ice, Foxy and Jason + the whole Parklet Team

We can't be more grateful for your support this year. As farmers, as cyclists and as people who fall under every category imaginable, we can't thank you enough for believing in the power of food, of bicycles, our cyclists who are raising funds for us and our mission to (re)connect people through people, place + produce.

Thank you! And the farms are always open to you to visit. We hope to see some of you out this year so you can see what your donations have grown into!

High fives,

You all rock. We're 9 days out from the ride -- keep up the momentum (and we'll keep it up on our end -- especially on March 3rd)!

Remember: The top fundraiser snags a trip for 2 to Washington, DC with us -- and everyone who raises more than $500 has a shot at winning a sweet snowboard package -- so when it snows, you can still hit the streets.

Good luck -- high fives -- and rock on!
