The Thet family strongly believes that Palindrome Advisors has proven that it has great potential to provide significant help to a large number of nonprofit organizations and charities. Operating initially in 2010 on a budget entirely funded out of his own pocket by family member and founder Zaw Thet, Palindrome has already helped scores of nonprofits with their fund-raising, on-line and public relations activities, and most importantly, matched nonprofits with advisors (and potential board members) who have expertise in their specific areas of need. Lyn and Mae tried to imbue their children, Zaw and Maya, with a desire to help people and are very happy and proud that both children dedicate a significant portion of their adult lives to philanthropy and public service. Zaw, in addition to founding Palindrome and being a high-tech entrepreuner, serves on the national Board of Directors of After School All-Stars, and is an inaugural member of the UN Foundation's 10 person Global Entrepreuner's Council. Maya eschewed medical or law school and chose a career in public service: she obtained a Masters in Social Work at Columbia University, was a Presidential Management Fellow with the federal government, and now works in Manhattan for the Head Start regional office in the US Administration for Children and Families. She, through matchmaking by Palindrome, serves on the Board of Directors of Harboring Hearts Housing in New York City. Her husband, Ben, also through matchmaking by Palindrome, serves on the Board of Directors of New York City Mission Society, the oldest human sevice organization in the city. Lyn and Mae themselves have a passion for helping patients and medical students, and Lyn has served on the boards of local chapters for the American Lung Association and Common Cause.
