WHAT? Over the past several months, OLG’s elementary school-aged children have been preparing to join the world’s largest children’s chorus, American Young Voices, for their performance on June 4th at The Prudential Center in NJ. Under the leadership of our amazing Miss Mary Stark, they have practiced and learned many uplifting songs that they are excited to perform for others. The children will share these songs with the OLG community on June 5th in a “benefit concert” to support UNICEF’s earthquake relief efforts in Nepal.
WHY? Last month, two devastating earthquakes in Nepal claimed more than 8,000 lives and destroyed countless homes. Children face an unprecedented emotional toll as they deal with the devastating consequences — and with 5,000 schools damaged or destroyed, more than 1 million are without classrooms.
Our children are so incredibly blessed in countless ways and have an opportunity here to share their gifts to benefits others. We, in turn, are giving them a gift, as they learn that they are global citizens who can make meaningful change in the world with something as simple as their voice.
WHEN? The concert will be performed on Friday, June 5th at the OLG Pajama Party.
HOW? A table will be set-up at the event to collect donations. All monies will be donated to UNICEF, who is on the ground in Nepal working to reach 1.7 million children and their families with critical aid. In addition, a Crowdrise fundraising website has been set-up at www.crowdrise.com/OLGSings. Please share this URL with family and friends.
