We’re taking WCS Run for the Wild to the four corners of the globe with our “World Edition.” This 5k run at the Bronx Zoo celebrates its 5th year by adding a worldwide event. We are enlisting wildlife enthusiasts from across the earth. Runners in Rio, walkers in Waikiki, and donors from Dubai are invited to join us by taking your preferred routes or making a donation.
Saving elephants is hard; raising money to help isn’t. Here’s how you can help:
- Running or walking anywhere in the world from now until April 27th, 2013. You can also start a team here!
- Support existing participants or teams.
- Donate to WCS Run for the Wild from wherever you are; every penny counts!
Elephants need your help. These magnificent, intelligent creatures are beloved, but in some places, they’re valued more dead than alive. Elephants are killed whenever the ivory in their tusks—known as “white gold”—is obtained.
Humans have put elephants in this mess, which is why it’s our job to preserve their future. To stop the slaughter, we need to find new resources to protect pachyderms.
The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild places worldwide. We do so through science, global conservation, education and the management of the world's largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together these activities change attitudes towards nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in harmony. WCS is committed to this mission because it is essential to the integrity of life on Earth.
