Team Oink is about helping pigs from the cruelties they are put through in factory farms.
Go to http://wdyd.farmsanctuary.org starting September 23 and learn about the atrocities pigs are put through and read the amazing stories of 2 of our adorable rescued pigs Julia & Nikki.
A Severe Abused Pig Finds the Freedom to Nurture Her Babies
Julia was confiscated from a factory farm, where a worker who was moving her between confinement crates had brutally kicked and beaten her before running an electrified cattle prod over the length of her body while she screamed in pain. The assault ended only when she collapsed, at which point she was dragged into the crate by her ears.
Disastrous Floods Turned One Pig’s Life of Misery into One of Joy
As the Midwest floods of 2008 ravaged Iowa, the nation’s largest pork-producing state, farm owners abandoned thousands of pigs to the advancing waters. Many were confined in gestation crates, and hundreds drowned still trapped in these cages. Others were released from the crates only to be swept away by rapid currents. Those who reached land or levees fought to survive in the hot sun without shelter, food, or clean water. Nikki was a fighter.
