BENEFITING: DISABLED SPORTS USA
THE STORY:
It's a grueling 26.2 mile march in the desert.
Support the wounded warriors participating in the 25th Annual Bataan Memorial Death March on Sunday, March 17, 2013 in the high desert on White Sands Missile Range, NM.
Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA) will sponsor the participation of team of 50 wounded warriors and support staff at the Bataan Memorial Death March as part of DSUSA’s Warfighter Sports program.
Disabled Sports USA, through its military program, Warfighter Sports, is committed to make this a successful experience for each of the wounded warriors. Support the efforts of these brave men and women at the Bataan Memorial Death March by donating to Disabled Sports USA and helping rebuild the lives of the thousands of severely wounded warriors who will need our help now and in the future.
The injured service members will join over 5,200 people, including hundreds of active duty military and veterans, to test their endurance and strength while raising awareness of the abilities of our nation’s wounded warriors. The majority of the warriors participating will be from the nation's major military hospitals: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX and others. They have suffered injuries including single or double arm and leg amputations, traumatic brain injuries and other severe injuries as a result of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Thanks to supporters, over 1,500 severely wounded warriors received critical sports rehabilitation through Warfighter Sports last year.
Since 2003, more than 8,000 of the most severely wounded and their families have been served through Warfighter Sports. All sports programs are provided at no cost to the warrior and his or her family member, including individualized instruction by trained adaptive sports instructors, adaptive sports equipment, meals, lodging, transportation and event fees.
Cheer on their commitment by joining the challenge and pledging your support TODAY!
