WWR implements WASH in School Programming in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Lead by our full-time WWR Haitian Team, we approach each school with a holistic approach. WWR is determined to not only improve sanitation and hygiene facilities, but to empower students as the agents of change in their communities.
In Haitian Kreyol, Leve Konesans means, Raising Consciousness. This is how WWR implements its WASH in Schools programing--with a diverse approach. WWR allows for the practice, maintenance, and student use of clean water systems. It is an integrated selection of programming that encourages long-term behavior change for improved health and hygiene.
With WASH, no longer will it be a privilege to have safe drinking water and hand washing stations, but it will be a right for Haitian students as they seek to focus on books, blackboards, and equations, not their thirst, stomachaches, or unwashed hands.
