Family & Friends: Josh and I wondered what tangible actions we could take to support our local and national community. We are concerned by the President's most recent actions and any future actions he may take that will jeopardize the safety and well-being of hundreds of Americans. We've made calls, but recognize there are more concrete actions we can take! Consequently, we registered for the VT City Marathon 2 person relay in hopes of raising funds to donate to the ACLU. If you have some spare change from now until May, please consider sponsoring our team and donating to our campaign! To learn more about the ACLU and their work, please visit: https://www.aclu.org/ All funds raised will be donated directly to the ACLU. Why are you running? Although there are several methods to raise awareness and funds, recent research suggests that attaching a fundraiser or cause to a race increases the amount of donations received. [don't quote me on my source; I bookmarked it somewhere]. Plus, we feel fat and out-of-shape, so why not raise money for a good cause while getting our butts in shape? It's a win-win for this lawyer to be. But silly Ana, is this necessary? Can't I donate directly to the ACLU instead of your GoFundMe page? Of course you can donate directly to the ACLU. However, the perk of donating to our GoFundMe page is that you will receive selfies of our progress, updates on awareness activities and what concrete actions you can take! Further, we will sport our most resistance centered attire for the big race day and will be sure to capture a photo for our thank you cards with our fancy iphones.#hightechlife Is my contribution tax deductible? Unfortunately, donations made directly to the ACLU are not tax deductible unless you donate to the ACLU foundation. I believe donations through a third party vendor; i.e. GoFundMe are tax deductible. We are collecting the donations and will send them directly to the ACLU. Thank you for your support!
