A birthday wish to help the Orangutan
Organized by: Tina Manera
My Bday is Jan 10th, and I'd like to spend it shoveling poop for a cause.
I've never been one to celebrate my Birthday, or make any special requests. However, this year, I've decided there is one thing I wish to do. I'd like to Volunteer at an Orangutan Sanctuary in Borneo. Each and every dollar donated will help fund my trip, and in doing so, you will all be part of the journey to protecting and improving the life of this majestic primate.
Some staggering statistics: "Both the Bornean and Sumatran Orangutan are considered critically endangered by the IUCN and this status looks unlikely to change any time soon. 100 years ago orangutan numbers were estimated to be around the 230,000 mark, but nowadays that number has dropped dramatically. There are only thought to be 54,000 Bornean orangutans left, and a tiny 6,600 Sumatran orangutans remaining. With the population suffering from a 75% drop in just 100 years, the rate of decline is unsustainable and the orangutans are in grave danger of ceasing to exist. That is why change needs to happen and it needs to happen soon."
As of now, my first program of choice is THE GREAT PROJECTS. Meals are in included in my stay, and I will be doing hard labor 5 days a week. If you're interested in knowing more, or getting involved yourself, visit:
Let me be your Birthday Ambassador for the change you wish to see in the world. I will document each and every part of my journey as it allows, and share this great adventure to show my gratitude for your generosity and kind spirit.
