A Celebration of Black Love
Organized by: Celebrate Love
Audre Lorde said "...once we recognize what it is we are feeling, once we recognize we can feel deeply, love deeply, can feel joy, then we will demand that all parts of our lives produce that kind of joy." This is a fundraiser focused on cultivating and celebrating Black love and joy through the upcoming event "A Celebration of Black Love." Two Black couples (one in their early 30s who have been together for two years and another in their 60s who has been together for nearly 40 years) is going to host a celebration of Black love and joy. It is important for Black people to see other Black people experiencing and practicing love and joy. Not everyone has access to loving, married couples and not all loving, married couples are willing to be vulnerable in front of other people who are seeking to learn about love. "A Celebration of Black Love" is an intervention for these people in need of such modeling and mentorship. This community event will honor great Black relationships (our ancestors and contemporaries), provide a model of loving communication and action, and include live art, discussion, poetry, dance, and song. This will be a free event (no age limits or requirements) in the Indianapolis, IN area...if we can get it funded. Please contribute what you can to this thoughtfully crafted Black love experience. If you live in the Indianapolis area and are interested in attending can email firstname.lastname@example.org for additional details.
