BENEFITING: CHARLES B WANG COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER INC
EVENT DATE: Jul 01, 2016
As daughters of Chinese/Malaysian immigrants, we know how important culturally relevant, language accessible, and affordable health services are for immigrant families. In honor of Immigrant Heritage Month, we are fundraising to support the crucial medical and social services provided by the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center. Since 1971, the Health Center has provided these resources for low-income and immigrant people across New York City.
To raise funds, we are creating a community cookbook. We want to celebrate the foods that have sustained our immigrant communities and cultures. We invite you to submit recipes or stories, art, poetry, etc. about food from your immigrant heritage. By the end of the summer, we will compile submissions into a cookbook zine and host a potluck featuring dishes from the zine.
We appreciate anything you can contribute – a Facebook share, a recipe, a story – not least of which is a generous donation to the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center. And a fundraiser wouldn't be complete without incentives:
- $10 donation = a mailed copy of the cookbook
This much provides a baby basics handbook for an expecting parent
- $25 donation = a copy of the cookbook AND an invitation to the potluck
This much covers a flu shot for a senior
- $50 donation = all of the above AND a book by one of our favorite immigrant writers!
This much helps someone get tested for hepatitis B
- $100+ donation = all of the above AND spend a day crafting & creating the zine with us!
This much goes towards a checkup for an uninsured patient
Your support for the Health Center means a lot to us!
