Making Progress

We are making progress in our adoption paperwork. Our dossier is close to completion. However, our homestudy agency cannot get to us until end See More

THE STORY:

Two years ago we hosted "V" , an orphan from Eastern Europe, in our home, for the Summer. It was a very long summer for us all. V was a very hurt, scared boy who trusted no one. However, we saw him make great strides in trust that summer and fed him all the good food he could eat (which was A LOT). When he left to go back to the orphanage, he was heavier, happier, healthier in body and mind, and KNEW that someone loved him. Through the help of a local family, we stayed in contact with V and was able to provide for some of his needs that the orphanage could not. In December, we were able to visit his orphanage and take much needed socks, shoes and hygiene items to give to all the kids. It was an amazing but heartbreaking experience. They all wanted attention and suddenly all of V's behaviors, that long summer. made sense. He was just surviving in a very harsh reality. We vowed to not forget those children and to do what we could to help them. The reality of what they are facing when they age out of the orphanage at age 16 is very dim with no family to help them and minimal education. V contacted us soon after and asked us to host him again for the summer. So, after much prayer and counsel, we decided to give it another shot. We noticed right away he was a much more confident boy and he adjusted so much better that two years prior. Not to say it was all rainbows and unicorns but teenagers rarely are :) Months went by and we were in prayer about our next steps. The same day, my husband and I received confirmation from the Lord to start V's paperwork for adoption. It is our hope and prayer that we will add V to our family this Spring! He has expressed that he wants to come live with us and learn a trade and work. We would love to give him the opportunity to know the love of a family, even as an older teen! He will be 15 and less than a year from aging out of the orphanage and being deemed "unadoptable". Everybody deserves to be loved by somebody! Would you help us reach our goal? Adoption is very expensive. I don't know many who have that chunk of money lying around. We have saved a good amount for the start up and would love to tell him how a community came together to give him a future. If you have read this far..... God bless you!
