THE STORY:
“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.”
–Mohammed Ali
While I’m not a boxer, I am a fighter — and an ovarian and breast cancer thriver. I’ve pushed through multiple treatments like a champion, but I still face the challenge of healing emotionally and reclaiming my sense of direction in life. This October, my compass is pointing southward to Lima and the Sacred Valley on a Peru Odyssey.
Through A Fresh Chapter, I have opportunity to serve others in the developing world and contribute to the global cancer discussion for two weeks in Lima, Peru. We'll also take a weekend journey to re-energize our spirits at Machu Picchu. I’m eager to bond with other cancer survivors and caregivers as volunteers, co-conspirators, and adventurers. I hope that the travel experience reminds me of the best parts of my zealous life pre-cancer. I hope that time spent away from home gives me a greater perspective on what's truly important to me now and how I want to live when I get back.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal of $1,500 to help cover program fees. A Fresh Chapter provides so much more than the logistics — it’s a 20-week support program designed to help me reframe the idea of adversity and venture forth on my path. Any donation is helpful and much appreciated, and donations beyond my goal will be applied to program fees as well.
A Fresh Chapter (Alliance Foundation) is a project in affiliation with Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE) a non profit public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations will be used to cover program related costs and all US donations of $100+ are eligible for a tax receipt. Thank you for your support.
