BENEFITING: Japan-American Society of Tennessee, Inc.
A small percentage of Americans ever travel outside of North America - and fewer still will ever visit Japan. The percentage of travelers from the tri-state region of Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas is even smaller. Yet, Japan is the largest source of foreign investment in the region, providing critical job opportunities and economic support to area families and local businesses. The Memphis Japan Festival will deliver a family-friendly experience of Japan, exposing area residents to an array of Japanese-themed entertainment, food, exhibits, vendors, and children’s activities. Ultimately, this multicultural "fun-raising" learning experience will act as a creativity catalyst to cultivate in festival goers a more open-minded, global world view. The 2017 festival is an initiative of the not-for-profit Japan-America Society of Tennessee and scheduled for Sunday, September 24th, at the Memphis Botanic Garden, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Funds raised will be used to offset festival production costs of approximately $60,000.
