A Life Worth Saving is a South Carolina 501(c)3 nonprofit established in March of 2017. Our mission is providing much needed financial help to families with adolescents and young adults ages 13-26 struggling with substance abuse and addiction. The financial burden for successful treatment and recovery is overwhelming. Insurance if you have it usually covers a good portion of primary treatment, but aftercare, sober living and other expenses much less if at all. More often than not when insurance benefits run out, the young person leaves profession care and is left to tackle his or her recovery on their own. Sadly, the relapse rates are extremely high in these cases. A Life Worth Saving helps the young person continue in their relationship with recovery professionals. Whether that means sober living, counseling or aftercare, we encourage them to maintain a strong sober support network. My passion for working with families that have adolescents struggling with substance abuse and addiction was born out of my experience with my own son’s addiction. As a parent I realized that what I was going through was one of the toughest things I’d ever faced, both personally, financially and as a family. I never thought my family would be going through this type of experience. I’ve had the opportunity to talk to parents going through exactly what I had gone through and realized that our stories are all the same, just different players. We all love our families; we love our children and only want what’s best for both. Having a child dealing with addiction, affects all of us emotionally, spiritually, financially and as a community. My heart and passion is to restore families and give the them hope.
