A Miracle for Marcus
Organized by: Marcus Galindo
As most of you may know Marcus was initially diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (also known as CMT) back in February of 2015. After a complete DNA genetic test the results revealed something more sever and terminal. Marcus was recently diagnosed with Krabbe (KRAH-buh) Disease, it destroys the protective coating of nerve cells in the brain and throughout the nervous system. Krabbe Disease is a very rare disease that affects 1 in every 100,000 people in the U.S. and most often fatal. There is no cure for this disease! If a person is diagnosed with this Krabbe Disease before the symptoms begin, a bone marrow or stem cell transplant may take place to help reduce the symptoms of the disease along with physical therapy and medications. Marcus always tends to grab everyone’s attention when walking into a room full of people. He is a smart, loving and very positive kid who believes God chose him to live and carry this disease for a reason, as parents we believe he has a purpose in this life time and has not yet fulfilled it. For any person to see that smile on his face on his good or bad days, including all the effort he gives to get through one more day with his aches and pains, it’s no wonder why God chose our little boy. He was built with inspiration, love, faith and motivation! He has touched the heart of many people and he lives as an example to what a life-loving child should be like. Marcus always knew he was different from everyone else and I believe he accepted it long before we could. He is always striving to please us parents and we are all extremely protective of him as he is our only son. Our family is extremely devastated to find out what Marcus has and being the seven year old boy that he is, it makes it difficult to reach out for support and voice his feelings on his battle through this life-threatening disease. Marcus is not aware of his new diagnose and family members would like to wait until the time is right. He has achieved many obstacles in these past years and we ask for prayers from everyone around the world to pray for A MIRACLE FOR MARCUS! This coming week we will travel to The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where we will meet with the best team of doctors that specializes in Krabbe Disease. We are asking for any amount of monetary donation to help us with medical expenses as we continue our journey with our son. My family and I would like to thank you all in advance for all your prayers and financial support. Please join us on our Facebook page “A Miracle for Marcus” to keep you updated on Marcus’ journey. Thank you & God Bless!
