Coral reefs around the world are going extinct. Scientists estimate Coral reefs may be fully extinct by the end of the century. One fourth of the worlds population relies on coral reefs for their livelihoods. Coral reefs provide the global economy with over 172 billion dollars per year. Most importantly coral reefs are home to many species of fish, invertebrate, mammal, and reptile which will vanish alongside the coral. At Modern Ark we have a group of dedicated aquarists working to propagate many rare and endangered coral species as well as produce captive bred marine fish to establish back up populations. We also frontier in the artificial selection and modification to produce hardy versions of modern coral species to continue the legacy of coral reefs in a post global warming world. Please help us preserve these reefs for the generations to come.
