Registration fee of $10 will be collected at the gate* I know every one of us has their own battles to fight but I feel this is an awesome/fun chance to change one person’s life for the better. A family friend of mine, Dawn O’Kane, has been fighting MS for 14 years. In the most recent years, it has only become more aggressive. Before this disease started taking a drastic toll on her life, she was a professional Ballroom dancer and even appeared in, “Shall We Dance,” before going on to own Arthur Murray Dance Studio in White Rock, B.C. . Luckily, there is a bone marrow stem cell transplant offered in Russia (an expensive one I may add) that drastically reverses the effects and slows the progression of MS. I am asking the largest group of people I know to help change the quality of life for one person. I may not know you on a personal level, but one thing is for certain: We all love cars. Dawns GoFundMe account has been resting at around $23,000 for some time now. Unfortunately, she needs at least 75% of the funds to even start thinking about going. This puts her at just over half way with the Canadian dollar the way it is. Because she has been trying to raise money for so long, she has had to push her deadline back multiple times. According to Dawn, this is her last shot at receiving the treatment she needs, and therefore, creating a better quality of life for her and her daughter. Personally, this motivated me so much to step in because I feel money alone shouldn’t separate someone from a treatment they desperately need. I figure with this meet, and Dawn’s continuing fundraising efforts, she might have a shot at having the money before November (her deadline). Check out where she's going...
