THE STORY:

Poland Spring Academy opened its doors to a handful of students nearly 17 years ago. Today, over 50 students attend their K-12 classes, with over 15 currently enjoying their tiny elementary playground; built for their once small group of 4-6 early elementary students.

As the early elementary group of students continues to grow, the condition of their undersized playground continues to deteriorate. We are grateful for the new opportunities that a larger class presents, but these children desperately need a new, safer, and bigger playground to meet their growing needs for physical challenges and accomplishments.

With all available funds being directed towards strengthening their curriculum, we need our community’s help to build this playground!

Our new playground design will provide challenging and exciting opportunities for physical exercise and development:

  • twice the number of swings
  • a kitchen set
  • a climbing gym
  • a cabin
  • a sandbox
  • a garden box
  • a tetherball game
  • an art center
  • a music center
  • a low balance beam
  • a water table

All of this built with safety, longevity, and educational growth in mind.

The total for this endeavor will come to $4,000, and we believe this is a small amount to invest considering the 15 or more years in Poland Spring Academy students will benefit from it.

This is where you come in! With your cash donation of $5, $20, $100, or more, Home Depot gift cards, or coupons to lumber yards or similar resources, we will together, quickly raise the funds needed to build this playground, so that students will be able to use their playground right away.

People who donate will be publicly recognized for their help, and if you are unable to contribute financially, you can still bless this class with volunteer work! Work days will be announced as funds become available. On these work days we will welcome your skills and knowledge to help us, as we together assemble the playground equipment. There will be food and other fun surprises. So please, come join us as we build our playground.

Work days and opportunities to volunteer will be announced through facebook events and shared on our facebook page. Donating to the fund is as simple as clicking clicking “donate” on this page, which you may do now or anytime in the next month. All other donations (coupons, discounts, gift cards, etc.) can be made by contacting the school office at (207) 998-4566.

Our class thanks you for your help!
