For over 40 years, Respond has opened its door to families and children victims of domestic abuse. The shelter and many other free supportive services offered by this bighearted organization has helped thousands of people in our community break free from the vicious cycle of abuse, move forward, and thrive!
Kyle, 14, Stacey 11, Kim, 9 and Manny 14 months – came into the shelter after living in a 1 bedroom apartment. The kids weren’t allowed to have friends or play outside, otherwise they would be punished. The older boy would often be blamed for his mother being beat. Thankfully the shelter took the family in after a coordinated effort with local police who physically removed the them from the harmful environment. At the shelter, the joy of life was restored to them knowing the children had a safe place to play, make new friends, and the freedom to achieve greatness.
Eventually Kyle made honor roll and his mother was overjoyed and grateful to this magnanimous shelter for helping them overcome life’s hardships. Join our efforts to help this amazing cause provide more families like this one with they help they desperately need.
