A place for our loved ones
Organized by: Chris VanCott
Hello my name is Christopher Van Cott Recently due to a change in living situations with my mother she has come to live with us and I have began to realize how important socialization is for the elderly especially for those who are healthy enough to socialize but not healthy enough to travel around on their own. For both mental and physical health!! Not only for them but for us as well as their children/caregivers. The realization of the amount of stress it places on our relationships and our family to care for loved ones. In a time of their lives where they need us as we needed them growing up! But now faced with a difficult decision to Either: 1) Enroll them in to a home for the elderly 2) Have a home health aide 3) Enroll them in a social environment for our parents to enjoy their day. With out feeling complety alone!! But like many of us we love our parents Our choice was to keep my mother at home with us. So the Right choose for us was #3 the way to go and so i began the search for a social adult daycare environment. As the search led on i had come across only a hand full of adult daycare locations In my immediate area and they were pricey And seemed to lean more towards the dollar then the person!! Because as many of us are already juggling Children/Career and home life.. It's hard for us the time they deserve... Remember there is nothing worse than the feeling of being alone. So my goal is to create a non-for-profit adult daycare that focuses more on socialization and friendship development more then profit.. And thats where the problem lies it is difficult to get financial backers when there are no large profits involved... So I am turning to the people and asking you to look into your heart and to remember that as life moves forward out roles change from child to parent from parent to child..
