EVENT: Agents of Change 2016
With winter coming up, we can’t help but think about those members of our community living in uncertainty, searching for a different place to call home every day. Single mothers lead approximately 69% of homeless families, which is why The Winter Shelter Network has focused their efforts on helping these specific women and children in the community.
This amazing organization was first formed when a group of churches began searching for a solution to this issue. WSN aims to serve the homeless of Douglas County by providing them with a temporary, safe shelter to receive rest, meals, and connection during these winter months starting November 1st to March 31st.
WSN has partnered with other nonprofits in the community to provide these women with all of the fundamental needs to get through these cold months. Parker Task Force Food Bank forms part of the partnering organizations, providing all non-perishable food for the homeless in our community. Let’s help bring warmth to these women and children in our community during these winter months, and provide them with a place to call home.
