A Program For M.E
Organized by: Valorie Tuft
In the past, single mothers have had to privately suffer with the obstacles and adversities involved with having to manage and maintain both the roles of mother and provider independently and simultaneously.
Economically, it was determined that in 2013, women made on average, 78 cents to the dollar in comparison to men. Statistically, the total households defined as single parent families, women accounted for more than 80%. Presently, Tuft Solutions plan is to help change the developmental trajectory path for school aged children living with socio-economic adversities by creating a “familycare” versus a “childcare” program.
We will provide positive reinforcement by using motivation and self-esteem to help create a positive mindset for students to promote growth academically, socially as well as mentally. To provide resources such as homework assistance to support and reinforce participation in school, technology access usage by creating a technology center that will provide the use of laptops and tablets for homework assignments and projects, and supplies to complete projects and assignments that are due at school.
With women facing such high socio-economic inequalities, these adversities tend to distract the single mother from being able to fully apply her attentions to home and the success of her children. This has inadvertently resulted in an adverse effect on the family structure as well as the well-being of the children. My desire is to help women between the ages of 20-55, create a unified family by providing spiritual guidance, empowerment and to elevate expectations specific to the mother, the child, and the family in a “familycare” environment. Tuft Solutions “Program for M.E. (Mothers’ Empowered)” is to provide instructions and guidance based on principles found in biblical scripture to help to create a positive and constructive environment that is conducive to a positive change spiritually.
The future goal of the Program for M.E (Mothers’ Empowered) is to provide parenting principles for mothers by starting with S.E.L.F (Spiritual, Education, Love, and Family), in a familycare environment.
