A Safe Place
Organized by: Crystal Love
on August 18th 2016 at approximately 8:30 a.m. I awoke to the most terrifying experience of my life. My son wasnt in his bed! We looked everywhere including cabinets and all because he likes to hide and play. When my husband checked the door he screams "look !!! He left!! We knew he was gone because we always check the locks on the door everynight before going to bed and once we saw it was unlocked i began to scream and cry ." no no no not my son! ! Why why noo.. isaaaaiaaah!!!!". I ran through the building screaming his name. and outside screaming his name hoping someone would return him and nothing. I called the police immediately. When they arrived my husband was outside looking for my son while i was upstairs dressing my 6 year old daughter Angela and crying telling her that this is the reason why we worry and are very overprotective with them. My husband screams my name out the window and tells me "baby girl" they have him they found him. I immediately ran down to see if it was true. And it was. They had found him. My son Isaiah is the most smartest, active, sweetest 3 year old you could ever meet. So smart that when he woke up that morning at about 6 am he decided to put his sneakers on (backwards) unlock our front door and walk down 5 flights of stairs opened three metal doors, and walk around the corner on davidson to the 183st train station went up to the platform and began running back and forth on the train platform in his underwear. What 3 y old has the guts to do that. And smart enough to know he had to put shoes on to go outside. Can you believe after my horrible experience of waking up and not seeing my baby in his bed they did not let me see him until 12 hours later. I thanked God he was alive over and over while i waited and cried. ACS was called on us in order for my son to be returned. Acs took us to court and both of my children are safely back home with us. we are trying to raise this money as a safety emergency move because at the moment we live in a shelter in the Bronx at what they call a scatter site. Its a regular aprtment building but with shelter rules and no security. We need to raise this money in order to find and rent a safer apartment that we can live in and secure our children in so it doesnt happen again. they tried to take my children away because of this. Everyone at home was asleep. Its not like it happened in the middle of the day like i dont watch over my children. Since our traumatic experience noone else has helped us get transferred from this shelter or change any locks to where we live because it is under the rules of the shelter that we cannot alter change or add any new locks to the apartment. my husband works a temporary job doing maintenance and we struggle to pull through at times trying to save for our place. We know it would take us time to save for our place but this is definitely an emergency. We need to move as soon as possible to keep our children safe and home where they belong . With us. We thank you all kindly in advance for taking the time out to hear our story. Any donations that are given for are cause will be a Blessing.
