THANK YOU to everyone who donated to help support this survivor and her children. Thanks to your generosity, this family is in a safe home, and See More

THE STORY:

I am asking each and every one of those who know me to please HELP. I am raising funds for a woman who recently left her husband and her home after years of intimate partner violence. She left for the health and well-being of herself and her children. She needed to leave AS SOON AS POSSIBLE for their safety, but she has been financially dependant on her partner for over a decade. She is scared she will have to return to her husband or face living in a shelter with her children. She has no family in the area. She is a real woman in OUR COMMUNITY - the children are in a local school district. You walk by them every day and are likely unaware of their circumstances and the trauma. I am doing everything I can from a legal and medical perspective for everyone involved, but money is needed to make it through the next few months while they get grounded. Moving expenses, attorney fees, rent, food, clothing, job search, transportation... PLEASE HELP! I don't sell Girl Scout cookies or coupon books or pretty smelling candles for our PTA, but I have always supported those who do. Now it's my turn to ask, and the cause is legitimate and urgent for the well-being and survival of this family. Due to the smallish community in which we live (smaller if you consider social media...) the survivor prefers to remain anonymous - she is admittedly scared and embarrassed -  the judgment about survivors of domestic violence is astounding - but personal thank yous will be sent to anyone who can help. Please send me a direct message for information on giving in-kind donations of gift cards, gas cards, etc. Please, consider a donation and help spread the word to assist this mother and her children. 100% of the funds collected will go directly to this family.

Dear Survivor, People think that leaving is the hardest part. It's not. The most difficult part is LIVING ON and living well. Be alive and be LOVED and don't ever ever go back. EVER. It's going to be difficult for a long time, but leaving is just the beginning of how strong you are. You matter. You are good enough. You are smart enough. You are strong enough. Have courage, you have done a very brave thing! What was done to you was NOT YOUR FAULT. Please do not believe otherwise, no matter what you've been told or what you may hear. If you feel alone, if nothing else, please just know that I care. Many of us felt (and sometimes still feel) alone and fearful and it is difficult to get through, but you will! You can do this. :-) I wish you and your children all the very best and more. Hold on, even if it's for just one more day. Tell yourself that every night. "I can do this for one more day. Just one more." More importantly, believe it! I believe in you. â 1 year ago
