Hello dear friends and family, Thanks to your support and some fundraising efforts in my hometown of Wichita, Kansas, Kevin's sister was able See More

THE STORY:

When he was 18, my cousin Kevin Loggins and two other young men held up two local drug houses in Wichita, Kansas. There were no casualties nor serious injuries. The young men were apprehended and Kevin was charged with aiding and assisting the other two young men. Now, 21 years later, Kevin is still in a Kansas state prison serving time for the events of that night while his co-defendants have been free for many years. As a result of his dissatisfaction with the court appointed attorney assigned to him, who he felt made no real effort to protect his constitutional rights in the courtroom, Kevin decided, at a young age, to represent himself. For years Kevin has struggled to find his justice through the system. But it seems that the judicial system has clutched him and refuses to let go. His faith and devotion to God has been his saving grace through these long years. And he uses his time inside to grow closer to God, to mentor and lead his fellow imprisoned brothers of all walks of life, to act as a mediator between gangs to keep the peace, and to write the most amazing, thought-provoking letters to his loved ones. (I have benefited much from the wisdom of his letters in recent years.) Now, Kevin believes that his best chance to succeed in freeing his body (as he feels his soul is eternally free) in his next appeal attempt is to hire a lawyer he has found and trusts to represent him to her full ability. As a family, we are raising money to be able to afford this expensive venture. I am reaching out now in an attempt to raise $2400 to go entirely to the purpose of securing this lawyer for Kevin as soon as possible. Before Kevin’s conviction he was a single father taking care of his 2 year-old son, Little Kevin. Now, Little Kevin, is a 22-year old college student with a 2 year-old son of his own. It is our hope that our young loved ones will be able to enjoy the love and guidance of their father and grandfather in the flesh, at long last. I invite you to give anything on your heart to give to help Kevin have his day in court and hopefully, ultimately, his second chance at life as a free man in the world. In the words of Kevin: "The ticking hand of time tests all things. Twenty-one years in prison has molded me into a thinking man, a virtuous man, a truly changed man. Extend your hand into this place of confinement, and take a stand, showing that every sincerely changed human being deserves a second chance." In immense gratitude, Carlisha Tennille Bell
