BENEFITING: Small World Connections Ministry
This October 15th, I will turn 31 years old! The only gift on my wishlist is to be able to continue doing work I love with an organization in whose mission I deeply believe. Small World Connections' vision is to be able to say to missionaries around the world that we genuinely care about their welfare and what matters to Jesus. As the Go Team Director, I have the privilege of recruiting and equipping short-term mission teams to serve our missionary friends around the world so that they can develop lifelong relationships with the missionaries themselves and the people they serve. We do whatever we can to remove barriers that might keep someone from following through with a dream God's given them for missions. In August of 2011, I described a dream job for a grad school assignment that summarized my current role with Small World Connections long before I even imagined this specific opportunity. An excerpt from the paper reads, "[My ideal organization] would specialize in serving populations with high potential for making positive impacts on the world and their communities. Through personal development, relationship building, and leadership training [the people we'd serve] will learn more about God's design for this world and their lives. The vision of the organization is to create a world where its residents embrace the responsibilities of being global citizens." Small World Connections relies on donations to operate our ministry. We do not charge anything extra for the trips we organize, nor we keep an office space. Primarily, donations support our salaries so that we too can follow through with the dreams God's given us for missions. In order to continue in this dream job I currently need more financial support. If 196 donors (one for each country in the world) gave a birthday gift of $31, the support would go a long way in allowing me to continue in this role.
