I decided to start this fundraiser because Sacramento, California's homeless residents have had to fight to have a place to sleep, stay warm, and feel cared for. I've watched them come together to fight the anti-camping regulations and have watched news videos of their bedding being thrown into trash bins by those enforcing the law. I pass them daily and see the look on their faces and know that they are someone's son, brother, father, and grandfather. They are someone's daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. They belong to someone out there. I want to give them a coat that will embrace them, keep them warm at night, and give them a place they can call home wherever they lay their head. They need to know that they belong to all of us as well and are not alone.
