Adopt an Angel is located in Wilmington, NC. Our mission is to reduce euthanasia in our local animal shelters through aggresive adoption and spay/neuter programs. So far, we have rescued close to 10,000 pets since 2004.
We visit shelters weekly and take animals who are out of time or have special needs. We don't have a real shelter. Instead, these animals go into fostercare with private citizens and boarding facilities. Then, we get them spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and tested for heartworms. Dogs with heartworms even go through heartworm treatments. See this article on Dogster where we were nomimated as Hero for the Day for our work with special needs animals.
Once our animals are completely vetted, they attend marathon adoption events every weekend at area pet stores. You can find our homeless cats 7 days a week at Petco, Pet Supermarket & PetSense. We want to SAVE THEM ALL and we won't be happy until we do. We create those heartwarming moments when a homeless animal finds someone to love them forever.
In 2013, we created Fix A Friend Spay Neuter Clinic. It is a high volume spay/neuter clinic and we are waging war against pet overpopulation. So far, we have fixed over 7500 animals. We want to see EMPTY CAGES in our local animal shelters and we are getting closer to the goal every day.
But, all this costs money. That's where YOU come in! A donation like yours fills the tank on our transport van so that we can pick them up from shelters and transport them to foster homes, boarding facilities, vet offices and adoption fairs. It pays for vaccinations, spay/neuters, heartworm treatments and medications for sick animals. It pays to repair or remove eyes, heals broken legs, removes tumors, and treats skin infections. It buys crates, leashes, flea & heartworm prevention, cat litter & food. Someday it will even build us our own facility. Donations save lives.
