Welcome to the fundraising page for the myTEAM Triumph chapter in Austin, Texas: Ainsley's Angels of Austin!
My name is Stephanie Steele, and I am a college student at Berry College. This past year I was able to attend a 3-month program in Austin, Texas called “Discovery!”. During the program, we were shown a video about Team Hoyt. Team Hoyt is the father/son duo, Dick and Rick Hoyt. Their story really touched my heart, and I knew immediately what I needed to do. My mission is to help the unmotivated find their inner strength through the release of sweat. The vision of my mission in action is to be able to push those unable to walk, in special push chairs made for road races. I want them to know that with a little help, hard work, and dedication, they are able to achieve anything. To help me with my mission, Team Hoyt put me in contact with Ainsley's Angels and together, we established a certified 501c3 non-profit organization called mTT: Ainsley's Angels in Austin. In order to achieve this mission, I plan to raise the funds required to pay for the costs of establishing a public charity, as well as the special racing chairs needed for our special rider athletes! I ask for your assistance and invite you to read below to learn more about what I seek to accomplish. Please help me grow in my mission, by sharing my story, by liking our facebook page, and by making a donation.
Ainsley's Angels currently has three cerified 501c3 public charities (one in Southwest Louisiana , one in Eastern North Carolina, and this chapter). We are seeking to establish additional charities in partnership with myTEAM Triumph (mTT) and our next area is Maryland! mTT is a national athletic ride-along program created for children, teens, adults and veterans who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races. Visit our website for more information and to watch videos and see photos of what we aim to bring to Austin!
Since we currently do not have any membership fees for our Captains (those we push) or our Angels (those who push), our mission is dependent on your support. Among the things donations will be used for include: purchasing an enclosed equipment trailer; maintaining/purchasing jogger chairs, bike trailers, and boat rafts; purchasing team uniforms; ensuring all Captains never pay for a single event, and continuing to provide for the best events possible for our Captains and their families! We also aim to support local special needs schools, programs, and organizations, while also offering an annual out-of-area trip/race for our special rider athletes.
You might be wondering, who is Ainsley? (video)
Well, our organization's namesake does not talk or walk; she does not play for fun; but she smiles, while out for a run. An inspiration to thousands, she is an amazing little girl with a smile that will light up any room. Shortly after being diagnosed with an extremely rare progressive genetic nerve disorder called Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD), Ainsley completed the Surfer's Healing Virginia Beach 5K road race. Her first of many running-aided, wind-induced smiles took our family's collective breath away as she received her finisher's medal and became an official Team Hoyt Virginia Beach (THVB) ATHLETE! Inspired by Dick and Rick Hoyt, and the only running team authorized by the Hoyt's to use their name, THVB provided Ainsley's family with a therapeutic means to fight the devastation associated with learning and trying to live with the fact that your child has a terminal illness. The positive energy surrounding the start line, the children smiling from ear to ear, the togetherness of every member preparing to "roll with the wind", the fearlessness of the athletes, the normalcy of the family, and the love we all have for each other is a therapy like no other. In an effort to spread this amazing experience to as many people as possible, Ainsley's Angels aims to see other families experience what the Hoyt's have experienced nearly 1100 times and what we have experienced over 40 times (so far). As such, we created three chapters (and seek many more) of myTEAM Triumph to ensure others can "roll with the wind" and live up to the philosophy of, "Yes You Can."
