Mission:

Art as an Agent for Change is 501 © (3) non-profit arts organization that works to establish alliances with other artists, combat the plight of the oppressed, engage social apathy, promote social awareness and to inform all of the realities that shape our lives through the mediums of art.

Vision:
Art as an Agent for Change, Inc. was founded in 2006 by three college students who wanted to actively engage their community in art that truly educated, inspired, and entertained. A.A.C. has grown as an organization and has adapted a mission that promotes artistic collaboration, community engagement, and working towards social change through arts education.

Program Descriptions:
Our outputs are solution based programs aimed at social uplift. Here is a list of our programs that are the keystones of our organization and facilitate active engagement with our host community.

Poetic Notions Poetry Festival:
Provides a forum of cultural expression to initiate dialogue on community needs and solutions

The Shutdown Magazine:
Provides a forum to encourage literacy and allow local youth and adults to contribute to the literary history of their community

A.A.C. in the Classroom:
Performance Poetry workshops for middle/high school students to enhance creative writing and public speaking skills

A.A.C. Media Engineering and Mentorship Program:
Provides at-risk youth with exposure to higher education opportunities and mentorship/instruction in scriptwriting, filmmaking, and music recording

A.A.C. Internship Program:
Trains arts advocates on community organizing and movement building
