Aaron Douglas Art Fair
Organized by: Aaron Douglas Art Fair Committee
This fundraiser aims to raise money for the annual Aaron Douglas Art Fair, inspired by the completion of the Aaron Douglas Celebration Mural. The Fair has been a yearly event since 2006 and has grown in to an eagerly anticipated event by the community. The intent was to create a one-day classic art fair environment in order to showcase diverse and emerging artists, to celebrate community and to continue the legacy of world-renowned Topeka-born artist Aaron Douglas (one of the founding fathers of the Harlem Rennaissance). The fair is totally run by a dynamic all-volunteer board and community volunteers. Admission is free and there are various interactive events for the attending public. One of our most popular attractions is the Children's Activity tent where children get to decorate and take home projects related to the theme set by the current year's chosen artist who is also showcased on the Fair's tshirts.
Every year we do a great deal of fundraising so that we can put on the celebration. In recent years there has been a decline in outlets and also an increase to many pieces of the Fair, that, in the past were free services. This is a Fair that has served as the first home to many artists just starting out and we hope to continue this Fair for years to come. Any and all donations go directly to the administration and logistics (such as advertising, tent rentals, chair rentals, portapotties, and the like) of the Aaron Douglas Art Fair. We invite you to visit our website to see what your donation would be helping to keep alive and well in our community. Thanks for checking us out!!! www.aarondouglasartfair.com
