This will be my first time competing an IRONMAN, but it has long been a goal of mine to compete in these kinds of endurance events. Hopefully this will be the first of many. Those who know me well know that I am definitely a cycling fanatic. I feel at home on the bike often like no where else. It is a sanctuary, both a place to cultivate mental clarity and a place to be mentally engaged. During summer 2015 I biked cross-country from New York to Washington, riding down the Pacific coast before taking the southern route back to New York. For lack of a description that would do it justice, it was an experience like no other. So I feel like I’ve been in long-time training for the bike segment of the Ironman. As for many other Ironman participants, the swimming segment will be the toughest for me–I am definitely not as comfortable in the water-and where I will need to focus my training. Until I started researching the Boulder Ironman, I didn’t understand what a huge part the local community plays in the successes of these events. It is a great opportunity that That is why I am very thankful to have to be able to raise money that goes will go back to local organizations in the communities that help support these races while also training for and achieving a lifelong goal.
