Abandoned Animal Rescue is a Cat & Dog Center that includes an adoption shelter, community education outreach, and supports a spay/neuter clinic with wellness services. In 2016, AAR purchased a 10-year old house on 7 acres in Magnolia. The house was remodeled to include the Office, the Cattery, and the Clinic. A separate dog facility, the Dog Barn, and the memorial, Clark’s Bark Park, were built. Because of the efforts of our volunteers and the support of the community, we purchased and remodeled with the funds raised; we are debt-free.
AAR is managed and maintained by an all-volunteer staff. Because AAR’s policy is to treat the animals in our care as we would our own pets (we never euthanize a healthy, treatable, re-habilitatable, manageable animal), volunteers are dedicated and long-term. Each day approximately 25 volunteers (pre-teens to seniors) care for the animals, oversee adoptions, and staff the front office. Additionally, volunteers chair many fundraising events and participate in civic events.
