Abby Klima's International Justice Mission Internship
Organized by: Abby Klima
I am thrilled to share that I will be interning with International Justice Mission (IJM) this coming fall in Washington, D.C. as the Mass Mobilization Intern! The Lord placed the dream to intern for IJM on my heart five years ago through the rare opportunity of traveling to IJM’s Manila, Philippines office in May of 2012. It was there that God gave me a passion to seek justice for the oppressed as well as the dream to pursue a career in aftercare for victims of modern day slavery. Since then, this passion has woven into many of the things I do and I am so excited and humbled that I get to live this dream now.
What is IJM? IJM is a non-profit Christian human rights agency whose vision is to rescue thousands, protect millions, and prove that justice for the poor is possible. Their global team consists of hundreds of lawyers, investigators, social workers, community activists, and other professionals who work throughout their 17 field offices around the world. Their work happens by rescuing victims, bringing criminals to justice, restoring survivors, and strengthening justice systems. All in all, IJM is holistically fighting to end modern-day slavery until all are free.
What will I be doing? I will be living in Washington, D.C. from September 12th through December 8th. Every intern will be volunteering their time for 40 hours a week throughout the entire time there. As the Mass Mobilization Intern, I will be supporting IJM’s Constituent Mobilization team through various projects and tasks including: • Assist mid-level giving with ongoing thank you notes and calls; • Assist student mobilization with updating database of student leaders and campus chapters • Assist the partnerships office with current needs in planning, organizing and executing upcoming events; • Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support. • As well as the different projects that arise during my time there.
I am writing this to ask you to consider partnering with me in this internship. Since this internship is completely volunteer, I need to raise funds for flights and living expenses. The mission of IJM is one that is very near and dear to my heart. Thus, any form of partnership means the world to me. I would LOVE to share more details with you and would be humbled if you discern to partner with me.
