More than halfway there!!!

EVENT DATE: Oct 15, 2016
This project means so much to me and here is why. It started in 2006, my best friend Taylor, almost age four, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an auto immune disease which often starts in childhood or early adulthood, in which the immune system attacks the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas, and in Juvenile Diabetes the pancreas does not recover and you are reliant on insulin every day regardless of your diet. Taylor is confronted by her disease every day – monitoring her sugar levels through regular blood tests and counts all carbohydrates she eats to makes sure her body can process the food properly. Its causes are unknown and there is no current cure, but even so, we can help.
I am running this 5k along with my Springfield Cross Country Team, but this time in Taylor’s honor, with hopes to raise money towards the research of Juvenile Diabetes through an organization called The Foundation for Diabetes Research (www.diabetesnj.org). My family often participates in FDR fundraisers and this is another way to give back to an organization so close to our hearts. Race spectators are always welcomed, and if you even choose to run, you can register at https://www.raceforum.com/cpl.
Since Taylor and I have always been there for each other, I could not think of any other way to make a difference than something to benefit her life and the lives of many others. Thank you so much for helping me with this cause.
