A BIGFAMILY HOPE SOCCER TOURNAMENT
Imagine playing soccer with a ball made of plastic paper, on a thorny makeshift pitch, with makeshift posts and barefooted. Out of this world? No, this is what children in Africa go through every day in their quest to be happy. Yes, this is how talent like Peter Ndlovu, Norman Mapeza, Benjani Mwaruwaru and recently Knowledge Musona was nurtured, but how many never discovered their true potential due to fractures and injuries ? We are reminded of people like Learnmore Mujaju from Chivi who had his foot torn apart after kicking a tree stub in 1990. Today he walks with a limp.
It is with this background that A Bigfamily Inc, hosts an annual soccer tornament for youths (9-13 years) in Zaka. Let the children play safely, with protective clothing on good pitches. This is an invitational tournament for 10 teams. All the participants will be clothed with soccer shoes, socks and uniform.
This will probably be the first time that children in this area would play soccer with full regalia. It will be exciting for them and most probably this would motivate them to express themselves on and off the pitch.
Our goal is simply to make the children smile and have them look forward to some exciting soccer extravaganza each year!
