I've decided to do something different for my birthday this year. This year, I want to help raise funds for a local non-profit ministry that works with adult survivors of sex trafficking in south Florida. Hepzibah House is a faith based ministry that was brought into life a few years ago with a heart to serve adult women who are trying to come out of these situations and turn their lives around. Many women in south Florida have received counseling free of charge through Hepzibah House already. After speaking with a number of young women, many say that they would leave right now if they knew there was a safe place they could live while receiving counseling and learning new life skills and adjusting to a normal, self-sufficient life. This program will include horse therapy, one on one counseling, life skills training (i.e. cooking, basic business skills, financial planning, etc...), as well as small businesses that will not only allow HH to become self-sustaining but also teach technical/creative skills to those who come to Hebzibah House. The remaining amount needed to cover all start up costs for a home is $16,000. This price covers, the cost of renting a home, security, insurance, etc.... In place of gifts/gift cards this year for my birthday, I'm asking everyone to donate to this wonderful ministry instead.
