A Blessing through A Build

I have had the privilege to work with this group of children for three months at the start of 2014 and they have stolen a piece of my heart. Lesbi and Tino, the founders of Ninos, have unparalleled passion and commitment to serve the children in their program. Through their work, each child now has a sponsor that enables them to go to a private school and supplies them with books, stationary and uniforms. This sponsorship money also helps the children with any medical issues that arise and further supports the work of the after school project. At the project, Lesbi and Tino, along with a crew of volunteers, empower the children to continue in their education and English language learning, provide meals and snacks daily, and keep the Mayan culture alive through Marimba lessons and dancing.
I have seen the difference this project makes in the lives of these children and this difference spills over into their family life too. Education truly is empowerment and can help these children to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
At the minute, the project is supporting about 25-30 children but they are at full capacity. Even though they have the passion to serve more families, they physically cannot support any more children to the project. The facility that they currently work from is a family home and has been damaged by an earthquake in the past. These children deserve more, they deserve to have a safer, more comfortable space from which to work from and that is the purpose of this fundraiser! It is time for them to grow and develop and the best way forward for them now, is to build a new facility for the children to work from. Lesbi and Tino already have the blueprints for a new building ready to go, they have the space in which to build it, the only thing they are lacking, is the funds to do so.
That is where we come in.
This fundraiser is how we can help them raise those well needed funds and start the build on this new facility for the children. The sooner the building is constructed, the sooner the project can start accepting more kids and can start making a bigger impact on their community.
Making a small donation will go a long way to helping us meet our target and will go a long way in making a very real difference in the lives of these amazing Guatemalan children.
