Ellen Shuman, Vice President, Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA)
BED stands for Binge Eating Disorder, a complex disease that is defined by episodes of compulsive eating beyond what society would term as “normal.” It leads to points of uncomfortable fullness. The binge creates feelings of guilt, disgust, and self-loath. Food for people suffering from BED is an addiction; they feel a loss of control and depressed.
My name is Amy Bortnick and I am a Student intern at Rebecca Bitzer and Associates (http://www.rbitzer.com/).I am touched by this issue that impacts so many individuals. I have been given the opportunity at Rebecca Bitzer and Associates to witness first hand how this disorder is impacting our clients. It has inspired me to run the Baltimore Marathon on behalf of BEDA (Binge Eating Disorder Association). I have set a fundraising goal to raise $1000 and would greatly appreciate any contributions to keep BEDA alive so they can help to help give life back to all the people suffering from BED.
